Rimon & Yagev were kidnapped by Hamas

On October 7, 2023, Hamas terrorists penetrated Israel, tortured and murdered women, men and children, and abducted 251 people from Israel to the Gaza Strip. 117 of them, had been returned alive to Israel. 37 bodies of hostages were repatriated to Israel.
Merit Spread Foundation supports the families of the evacuess and the hostages in all aspects possible, from temporary housing to mental and emotional support.

The hostages include 15 couples. Among them, were Rimon and Yogev. 
Rimon Kirsht and Yagev Buchstav got married in 2021, and lived in Kibbutz Nirim.  They were music and animal lovers, and their home served as a refuge to many abandoned pets.

They were kidnapped from their home on October 7. Rimon was released in the hostage deal on November 28, 2023, and won the world’s admiration as she bravely stared down her Hamas captor and refused to shake his hand in front of the cameras, as he ordered her, upon her handover to the Red Cross. On March 23, 2024, Hamas announced that Yagev died “because of starvation and lack of medication”. On July 22, 2024, the IDF confirmed his death. On August 20, the IDF repatriated Yagev’s body, together with those of five other hostages, and he was buried in Kibbutz Nirim the following day. He was 35 years old.
